Typography
Akira controls fonts from one place in Theme Settings, and every section on your store inherits from these settings. There is no per-section font picker, so getting this right once is enough for the whole theme.
Heading and body fonts
Akira uses two font pickers: one for headings and one for body text. Both pull from Shopify's full font library, so you can pair any two fonts without uploading files yourself.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Heading font | Sets the font used for every h1 to h6 element across the theme, including section headings and product titles. |
| Heading font scale | Scales all heading sizes up or down as a percentage, without changing the font itself. Useful if your chosen typeface reads small or large compared to the default. |
| Body font | Sets the font used for paragraph text, buttons, labels, and navigation throughout the theme. |
| Body font scale | Scales all body text sizes up or down as a percentage, independent of the heading scale. |
How the scale sliders work
The scale sliders don't replace the type sizes you can still set inside individual sections (like choosing a heading size of h1, h2, or h3 on a hero banner). Instead, they act as a global multiplier on top of those choices. If you increase the heading scale to 120%, every heading across the store gets 20% larger, no matter which size was chosen at the section level.
This makes the scale sliders the fastest way to fix a typeface that consistently reads too small or too large, rather than adjusting sizes section by section.
Tip: If you switch to a new heading font and the store suddenly feels cramped or oversized, adjust the heading scale before touching any individual section settings. It's almost always the faster fix.
Where fonts apply
Because font choices are global, you won't find separate font pickers inside sections like Hero & banners or Testimonials. Those sections only expose heading size (h0 to h3) and body text size (Small, Medium, Large) controls, which work within the font family and scale you've set here.
