Gift cards

Akira includes a dedicated gift card page and a recipient form built for gift card products, so customers can redeem and send gift cards without leaving your storefront's look and feel.

The gift card page

When a customer views their gift card, Akira's gift card page shows:

  • The gift card code, formatted in groups of 4 digits so it's easy to read and type at checkout.
  • A QR code the customer can scan at checkout online or in-store, which applies the code without anyone needing to type it manually.
  • An "Add to Apple Wallet" button, which appears automatically once Apple Wallet passes are enabled for your store.

Selling gift cards as products

When you create a gift card as a product in Shopify admin, Akira's product page changes automatically: instead of a standard buy button, it shows a recipient form. This form collects:

FieldRequired
Recipient nameYes
Recipient emailYes
Personal messageOptional
Scheduled send dateOptional
A gift card product page showing denomination options and the recipient form.
The gift card product page with denomination selector and recipient form.

The scheduled send date is useful for birthdays and holidays: the customer buys the gift card now, and Shopify emails it to the recipient on the date they choose rather than immediately at checkout.

Tip: Apple Wallet support depends on your store's configuration, not a theme setting. If the "Add to Apple Wallet" button isn't appearing, confirm Apple Wallet passes are enabled for gift cards in your Shopify admin settings.
