Country & language selectors
Akira's footer can include a country/region selector and a language selector, each of which reads directly from your Shopify markets and languages setup and requires no manual list-building in the theme.
Two independent toggles
The country/region selector and the language selector are each turned on or off independently in the Footer section's settings. You can show both, either one, or neither, depending on what your store needs. See Footer for where these toggles live.
They only appear when configured in Shopify admin
Turning on a selector in the Footer section isn't enough on its own. The selectors only display options if you've actually configured multiple markets or languages in Shopify admin:
- The country/region selector needs multiple markets set up under Settings → Markets.
- The language selector needs multiple languages published under Settings → Languages.
Akira reads whatever markets and languages are configured there and renders the selector automatically, so there's no separate list to maintain inside the theme editor.
What happens when a customer switches
Selecting a different country updates the storefront's currency and, where you have market-specific pricing set up, the product prices shown. Selecting a different language reloads the storefront in that language, using whichever translations you've published for it.
Tip: If a selector isn't showing in the footer even though the toggle is on, check Settings → Markets or Settings → Languages first. A single market or a single published language means there's nothing for the customer to switch between, so the selector won't appear.
