A Shopify Expert is an agency or developer accepted into Shopify's partner program. The claim is only worth something when it is backed by work you can inspect from outside: apps published on the Shopify App Store, partner reviews you can read in full, and live stores you can load on your own phone.
What a Shopify Expert should actually be able to prove.
Anyone can write Shopify Expert on a homepage. The claim is only worth something when it is backed by work you can inspect from the outside: apps live on the Shopify App Store, partner reviews you can read in full, and stores you can visit and load on your own phone.
We publish our own apps on the Shopify App Store under our own partner account, covering B2B wholesale pricing, loyalty, rentals, AI product content, bulk image tooling and restock alerts. Shipping and maintaining public apps means meeting Shopify's own bar for OAuth, webhooks, billing and privacy on every release. That is the same engineering standard we bring to custom Shopify development.

Shopify Experts: common questions
What is a Shopify Expert, and how do I verify one is real?
A Shopify Expert is an agency or developer accepted into Shopify's partner program. The label is worth checking rather than trusting, because anyone can print it on a website. Three things are publicly verifiable: a listing in the Shopify Partner directory, published apps on the Shopify App Store under the partner's own account, and partner reviews you can read in full. Tripster Developers publishes our own apps on the Shopify App Store, which is checkable evidence of engineering depth rather than a self-declared badge.
Are you a certified Shopify Partner?
Yes, and we have built on Shopify since 2016. Beyond the certification we maintain live public apps on the Shopify App Store covering B2B wholesale pricing, loyalty, product rentals, AI product content, bulk image tooling and restock notifications. Building and maintaining public apps means working against the same OAuth, webhook, billing and privacy requirements Shopify holds every app to.
What does Shopify expert work cost?
Three bands cover most projects. A starter build on a well-chosen theme with custom branding runs $1,500 to $4,000. A fully custom Shopify theme with bespoke UI and custom logic runs $5,000 to $15,000. Enterprise and Shopify Plus work with ERP integration, headless storefronts or B2B portals starts at $20,000. Ongoing support retainers start at $500 a month. Every project is quoted fixed price before work starts, and we quote in your local currency.
Which countries do you work with?
We work with merchants worldwide and run dedicated teams and local pricing for New Zealand, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. Delivery is remote-first, so the country you trade in changes the currency, the payment gateways and the shipping carriers we configure, not the standard of the build or who you talk to.
How do you handle time zones for clients on the other side of the world?
We schedule against your working hours rather than ours, and you talk to the developer building your store instead of an account manager relaying messages. Written updates land daily so progress is visible without a call, and we hold a fixed weekly slot in your time zone for anything that needs a conversation.
Can you sell into multiple countries from one Shopify store?
Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons brands come to us. Shopify Markets handles multi-currency pricing, local payment methods, market-specific catalogs, duty and import fee handling, and localized domains or subfolders. We configure the hreflang and URL structure at the same time, because a cross-border store that search engines cannot map to the right market loses most of the benefit.
Do we need Shopify Plus?
Most merchants do not. Plus earns its cost when you need checkout customization, Shopify Functions, B2B on the native platform, very high order volume, or multiple stores under one organization. Below that, standard Shopify does the same job for a fraction of the monthly cost. We tell clients when Plus is not justified even though the smaller build is worth less to us.
Can you migrate our store from WooCommerce, Magento or BigCommerce?
Yes. Products, variants, collections, customers and historical orders all move across, with a redirect map built before cutover so existing search rankings survive. Your current store stays live until launch day. Migration is the single most common project we run and the one where most agencies quietly lose their client's organic traffic.
Will migrating to Shopify damage our search rankings?
Not if the redirect map is done properly, which is exactly where most migrations fail. Every old URL gets a 301 to its closest equivalent, we preserve title and meta structure, we keep the internal linking intact, and we verify coverage in Search Console after cutover rather than assuming it worked. A short dip in the first weeks is normal. A permanent drop is a defect, not a cost of migrating.
Do you build custom Shopify apps?
Yes, both private apps for a single merchant and public apps for the App Store. Because we ship our own public apps, custom work is built to the same standard: proper OAuth, verified webhooks, mandatory privacy endpoints, billing that survives an audit, and Polaris interfaces that look native inside the Shopify admin.
Can you connect Shopify to our ERP or accounting system?
Yes. We build Shopify to Odoo and Shopify to ERP integrations with real-time inventory, order and customer sync, plus automatic retry and error recovery so a failed sync surfaces instead of silently dropping an order. For merchants holding stock in a separate system this is usually the highest value integration we do.
Can you build B2B and wholesale on Shopify?
Yes. We publish Miko B2B Wholesale Hub on the Shopify App Store, which gives customer-group pricing, volume tiers, net 30 and net 60 payment terms, quote requests and a branded wholesale portal without requiring Shopify Plus. For merchants already on Plus we build against the native B2B objects instead.
What happens to our store and code if we stop working with you?
Nothing changes for you. The Shopify store sits on your account, not ours. The theme code is yours, any custom app is transferred to you, and there is no license fee to keep using what we built. We do not hold client stores hostage on our own Partner account, and we will hand over to another agency cleanly if you outgrow us.
How long does a Shopify project take?
A theme customization is usually 3 to 5 weeks. A fully custom theme is 8 to 12 weeks. A platform migration is 8 to 16 weeks depending on catalog size and how clean the source data is. You get a dated milestone plan at the start rather than an open-ended estimate, and we flag slippage when it happens rather than at the deadline.
What does your process look like from first contact to launch?
A scoping call, then a written proposal with fixed pricing and dated milestones. On acceptance we build in a development store you can watch, with a shared staging link updated continuously rather than a reveal at the end. Then content and data load, a QA and performance pass, and a launch checklist covering redirects, analytics, payment and shipping. After launch you either run it yourself or keep us on a retainer.
How do you approach Shopify store speed and Core Web Vitals?
Performance is part of the build, not an upsell afterwards. We build mobile-first, keep the installed app stack lean because third-party apps are the usual cause of a slow Shopify store, defer non-critical scripts, and target Lighthouse 90 or better on the home, collection and product templates. We report the numbers rather than claiming them.
Why hire an agency instead of a freelancer marketplace?
Marketplaces are competitive on price and genuinely fine for a contained task. They are a poor fit when the work spans design, Liquid, app development, data migration and search, because nobody owns the seams between those pieces and the seams are where ecommerce projects fail. If your project really is one contained task, we will say so rather than quote you for an agency engagement.
How do we start?
Send us the store URL, what you are trying to change and roughly what you want to spend. You get a written response with an honest read on scope, a fixed-price range and a timeline. If we are the wrong fit we say so and point you somewhere better. There is no discovery fee and no obligation to proceed.
