Free Shopify Store Check: Speed, SEO and App Audit in 10 Seconds

Paste your store address. In about 10 seconds you get the fix plan our developers would send you: the exact scripts, apps, tags and images holding the store back, why each one costs you sales, and how we would fix it.

Free, about 10 seconds, no signup. We keep the store address and results so we can follow up. See our privacy policy.

What it checks

Ten areas, read the way a developer reads them

The check fetches your homepage, one product page, robots.txt and the scripts the homepage loads, from our server, the way a browser would. It never logs in, installs anything or touches your admin. Every finding names what we found, why it costs you sales and how we would fix it on Shopify.

Real-visitor speed

Google measures your store on real phone visits. For 75% of visits, Largest Contentful Paint should be 2.5 seconds or less, Interaction to Next Paint 200 milliseconds or less and Cumulative Layout Shift 0.1 or less. When real-visitor data is available we show it; when it is not, we say so instead of guessing.

Page weight and code

HTML size, how many script and stylesheet files load, scripts included twice, Internet Explorer leftovers, and every script that blocks the first paint, named with its size. A render-blocking script delays Largest Contentful Paint on every page.

Apps and scripts

Every app that loads code on the storefront, by host, with how much JavaScript it adds and where it loads. Apps still on legacy script tags are flagged, because Shopify stops loading script tags on 1 March 2027.

SEO basics

The homepage title and meta description quoted, with their length in characters, plus H1 headings, the canonical link, noindex and the social share image.

Structured data

Organization and WebSite markup on the homepage, and on a product page the exact Product and Offer fields that are missing, such as brand, gtin, shippingDetails and hasMerchantReturnPolicy, which Google uses for merchant listings and rich results.

Images

How many images have no alt text, with example file names; whether the first image is wrongly lazy-loaded; and whether Shopify's CDN is asked for sized images, so phones do not download desktop photos.

Language and markets

The page language, Shopify locale and currency, and the hreflang alternates for multi-language or multi-market stores, including a missing x-default. It reads structure, not words, so it works on stores in any language.

Theme

Theme name, version and whether it is an Online Store 2.0 theme, read from Shopify's own theme data. Headless storefronts are detected and the report says which checks do not apply.

Mobile, HTTPS and access

The mobile viewport, HTTPS, and whether a password page is hiding the store from shoppers and Google.

AI search readiness

Whether robots.txt blocks GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot, quoting the rule, and whether product descriptions give AI assistants and Google enough to match and quote.

Scoring

How the score works

Each check is a pass (1 point), needs work (half a point) or a fail (0). Anything we could not measure is left out, not guessed. A group's score is the average of its checks, and the overall score is the weighted average of the groups that returned data, rounded to a whole number.

The top 3 fixes are the failures and warnings that make the most difference for the developer time they take. A score is a starting point, not a verdict: a store at 60 with a fast checkout can outsell one at 90.

Your data

What happens to the store address you enter

We keep the store address, the check results and the date, so our team can follow up about the findings. We never store your IP address: the daily limit uses a salted one-way hash of it. The check sends no email and asks for no personal details. See our privacy policy.

You get 10 free checks in any 24 hours. Results are kept for 6 hours, so a shared link opens instantly and puts no extra load on the store.

Questions

Is the Shopify store check really free?
Yes. There is no signup and no email address to enter. You get 10 checks in any rolling 24 hours, and every result can be shared with a link.
Does it change anything on my store or need access?
No. It reads the same public pages any visitor sees: the homepage, one product page, robots.txt and the scripts the homepage loads. It never logs in and has no access to your Shopify admin.
Why is my score different from PageSpeed Insights?
PageSpeed Insights loads the page in a simulated phone and scores how it loads. This check reads the code and settings behind the page (scripts, apps, structured data, alt text, hreflang) and tells you what to change and where. PageSpeed shows the symptom; this shows the causes in your theme and apps.
What are the Core Web Vitals thresholds?
Google counts a page as good when, for 75% of visits, Largest Contentful Paint is 2.5 seconds or less, Interaction to Next Paint is 200 milliseconds or less and Cumulative Layout Shift is 0.1 or less.
What if it says my store is not on Shopify when it is?
The check looks for Shopify's own signals: its response headers, its CDN, its theme data or its IP range. A store behind a custom proxy or strict bot protection can hide them. Book a call and we will check it by hand.
What happens to Shopify script tags in 2027?
Shopify stops loading script tags on 1 March 2027, and since 1 October 2026 apps can no longer create or update them. The check lists any app on your homepage that still loads through one, so you can ask its developer or replace it in time. Our script tags guide explains the change.
Does it work on stores that are not in English?
Yes. Every check reads structure: JSON-LD, meta tags, Shopify's own data, script hosts, headers, robots.txt, alt attributes and hreflang links. It quotes your store's text exactly as it appears, measures titles in characters, and allows for shorter titles in Japanese, Chinese and Korean. The advice itself is written in English.
How many checks can I run?
10 in any rolling 24 hours, including repeat checks of the same store. Results are kept for 6 hours, so a shared link opens instantly without loading your store again.
Can you fix what it finds?
Yes. Every finding says how we would fix it, with a rough effort. Book a 30-minute call to go through it with a developer, or ask for a fixed quote.

Want a developer to go through your results?

A 30-minute call with the people who would do the work. We go through your check, look at real-visitor speed and checkout, and tell you what is worth fixing first.
