Odoo Implementation · Development · Support

One system for the whole business.

Odoo replaces the spreadsheets and disconnected tools running your sales, inventory, purchasing, accounting, manufacturing, HR, and projects. We implement it, migrate you onto it, build the custom modules standard Odoo does not cover, connect it to everything around it, and support your team long after go-live.

In short

Tripster Developers is a New Zealand software engineering firm that implements, customises, migrates, and supports Odoo ERP. The practice covers the full system: sales, inventory, purchasing, accounting, manufacturing, HR, and projects. Services include module configuration, migration from spreadsheets or a legacy ERP with a tested rollback path, custom Odoo module and Odoo Studio development, integrations with ecommerce, payments, banking, 3PL and CRM systems, user training, and ongoing support on Odoo.sh or self-hosted infrastructure. Typical engagements run four to eight weeks from audit to go-live. Because the team are engineers rather than only configurators, they also build and operate a production Shopify to Odoo connector, though most Odoo work involves no storefront at all. They work with Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise.

Engineers, not just configurators.

Most Odoo work goes wrong in one of two places: the configuration does not match how the business actually operates, or the system sits isolated from everything around it and someone ends up re-keying data by hand.

We are a software engineering team, so we handle both. Standard Odoo covers a great deal, and where it does not we write proper custom modules rather than bending your process to fit a demo. Where Odoo needs to talk to another system, we build and operate that integration ourselves, with retry logic and failure alerting, because syncs do fail.

That includes ecommerce when it is relevant: our Live Odoo Connector is in production today. But it is one capability inside the practice, not the whole of it.

Custom modules, done properly

Python and Odoo Studio development that extends the system cleanly, so upgrades do not break what we built.

Built to fail safely

Tested rollback paths, retry logic, and alerting. A migration or sync that fails silently is worse than one that fails loudly.

From choosing Odoo to living with it.

Sales, inventory, purchasing, accounting, manufacturing, HR, projects. Whether you are moving off spreadsheets, replacing a legacy ERP, or already on Odoo and stuck.

Implementation

Module selection, configuration, and go-live across sales, inventory, purchasing, accounting, manufacturing, HR, and projects. Configured in a test database first, never straight into production.

Migration

Off spreadsheets, Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, SAP, or an ageing ERP. Products, customers, suppliers, stock, open orders, and balances, with duplicates and broken records dealt with rather than carried across.

Custom development

Custom Odoo modules, Odoo Studio work, tailored reports and dashboards, and automation built to your process, written so version upgrades do not undo it.

Integrations

Odoo connected to what surrounds it: ecommerce, payments, banking feeds, 3PL and shipping, CRM. Includes our own Live Odoo Connector for Shopify, in production today.

Training

Your team operating Odoo without calling us weekly. An ERP nobody can run is a failed project however well it was configured.

Support & hosting

Version upgrades, new modules as you grow, Odoo.sh or self-hosted deployment, and someone to call at 2am rather than a ticket queue.

Five stages, no surprises.

Every engagement follows the same shape, whether it is a ten-user rollout or a multi-warehouse migration.

01

Audit

We map your current process and, more importantly, your current data. Data quality is what actually decides the timeline, so we quantify it before quoting a date.

02

Configure

Modules set up in a test database against your real workflow. You see it working on your own data before anything touches production.

03

Migrate

Data moved with a documented rollback path. A rollback plan that has never been executed is not a rollback plan, so we trial it first.

04

Integrate

Shopify, or whatever else needs to agree with Odoo. This is the stage most projects underestimate and the one we know best.

05

Train and support

Handover to your team, then ongoing support as you add modules, users, and volume.

Most Odoo work has nothing to do with a storefront.

Wholesalers, manufacturers, distributors, trades, and service businesses. Inventory and warehouse routes, purchasing and suppliers, quoting and invoicing, manufacturing, projects, accounting, and getting a team confident enough to run it themselves. If you are evaluating Odoo and sell nothing online, you are exactly who this page is for.

Odoo questions, answered straight

Do we need Odoo Enterprise, or is Community enough?

Community is enough for many businesses that need sales, inventory, purchasing, and basic accounting. Enterprise adds the modules most growing operations reach for within a year: advanced inventory routes, multi-company, full accounting automation, studio customisation, and official support. Both expose the same external API, so a Shopify integration works either way. We confirm which edition your workflow actually needs during the audit rather than defaulting you to the larger one.

How long does an Odoo implementation take?

A focused implementation covering sales, inventory, and purchasing typically runs four to eight weeks from audit to go-live. Adding accounting, manufacturing, or a Shopify integration extends that. The variable that moves the timeline most is data quality: clean product and customer data migrates quickly, while inconsistent SKUs and duplicate customer records are usually the real bottleneck. We quantify that in the audit before committing to a date.

What can Odoo connect to?

Odoo exposes an external API, so in principle anything with an API can be connected: ecommerce platforms, payment providers, bank feeds, 3PL and shipping carriers, CRM systems, and industry software. We build these integrations ourselves with retry logic and failure alerting. The one we know deepest is Shopify, where we build and operate the Live Odoo Connector in production, syncing products, variants, inventory, orders, customers, and invoices in real time, including Shopify Plus B2B.

Do you only work with ecommerce businesses?

No. Most Odoo work involves no storefront at all: inventory and warehouse configuration, purchasing and supplier management, quoting and invoicing, manufacturing routes, project tracking, accounting, and getting a team trained well enough to run the system without calling us every week. We work with wholesalers, manufacturers, distributors, trades, and service businesses. Ecommerce is one integration we happen to know unusually well, not a requirement.

What does an Odoo engagement actually involve?

Five stages. First an audit of your current process and data. Then configuration of the modules you need, in a test database rather than production. Then data migration, with a documented rollback path. Then integration work if Shopify or another system is in scope. Then training and support, because an ERP nobody on your team can operate is a failed project regardless of how well it was configured.

Can Odoo be customised to how we actually work?

Yes, and this is where an engineering team matters. Odoo Studio handles lighter changes such as custom fields, views, and simple automation. Beyond that we write proper custom modules in Python against the Odoo framework, which is the right way to add genuinely bespoke logic, tailored reports, or a workflow standard Odoo has no concept of. Written properly, custom modules survive version upgrades. Written as quick hacks into core files, they do not, which is why we do not work that way.

Where are you based?

New Zealand, working across NZ, Australia, the UK, the USA, and Canada. Odoo work is largely remote by nature: the system is browser-based and the integration work is API work. For New Zealand businesses that means local hours and local context; for everyone else it means we are awake when your overnight sync fails.

Tell us what you are trying to fix.

Whether that is choosing Odoo, escaping a spreadsheet, or making Shopify and Odoo stop disagreeing. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right team for it.
