AI assistants now read online stores more than twice as often as Google. Most retailers can't see it.

Using a month of raw server logs from our own websites, the article shows that crawlers from OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity and Meta made 6,826 requests between 1 and 27 September, against 2,810 from Googlebot. 859 were AI assistants fetching a page live because a person had just asked a question. It closes with a six-step checklist retailers can use to make sure AI tools can read their store.
