The brief

Römfre makes full-grain leather bags, from slings and backpacks to weekenders and CPAP travel bags, handcrafted and priced as affordable luxury.

The store had one overriding goal: make browsing fast and checkout quick, especially on a phone.

The homepage leads with a campaign and its code, so the store’s real job is turning a campaign click into an order. Every extra tap between the campaign and the cart is a chance to lose the sale, so the design started from the smallest screen and the fewest steps.

02Collections & filtering

Quick add from the gridShopify theme development

Quick add, without leaving the grid.

Collections show a product count, availability and price filters, and review counts on every card. Choosing options and adding to cart happens from the grid itself, so a returning customer can buy in seconds.

Custom sections on DawnShopify theme development

What is on the live store.

Römfre runs on Dawn, Shopify’s own theme, version 15.4, with brand-specific sections on top. Starting from Dawn keeps the base lean and well supported; the brand character comes from the sections. This is what the live page source shows in October 2026:

  • Brand sections on the homepage. A Römfre slider, a feature table, a best-selling backpack panel, a featured travel pack and a feature collection sit alongside Dawn’s own sections.
  • Quick add across the grid. Collection cards carry quick add, with option swatches, so a returning customer can buy without opening the product page.
  • Pickup availability on the product page. Local pickup is shown right on the product page.
  • Reviews, restock alerts and testing. Judge.me reviews, back-in-stock alerts and a price and content testing tool are loaded on the live store.
  • International shoppers. A country selector sits in the footer, and on our visit from New Zealand prices were shown in New Zealand dollars.

Product pages output Product schema with brand, category and an Offer, so price and availability are readable by search engines and shopping surfaces.

For similar merchants

Mobile-first is a decision about steps, not screen size.

Designing mobile-first does not just mean the layout fits a phone. It means counting the taps from a campaign to a paid order and removing as many as possible: quick add on the grid, options as swatches, the price and the sale price side by side, and pickup or delivery answered on the page.

Building on Dawn is a good fit for brands that want speed and long-term support without carrying a heavy theme. The custom work then goes where it earns its keep: the sections that show off the product and the parts of the journey where buyers drop out.

If you add testing and marketing tools after launch, measure the store again. Each one is usually small on its own; together they decide how fast the store feels on a phone.

Questions

Is Dawn a good theme for a premium brand?

It can be. Dawn is Shopify's own theme, lean and well supported, and custom sections on top give it a distinct look. Römfre runs Dawn 15.4 with brand-specific sections such as a slider, a feature table and featured product panels.

What does quick add do for a Shopify store?

It lets a shopper choose options and add to cart straight from the collection grid, without opening the product page. It suits returning customers and campaign traffic who already know what they want.

Why measure a store again after launch?

Because apps, testing tools and marketing tags get added over time, and each one adds scripts. Measuring again shows how much of the page now comes from third parties, which is often where the speed goes.
