Miko Product Rentals Is Now Live on the Shopify App Store

Miko Product Rentals is live. After months of building a native Shopify rental solution, the app is available from the App Store today with a free plan, 10 lifetime rentals, no credit card needed. Rental booking, deposit management, inventory, and automated emails, all from inside Shopify.

Miko Product Rentals Shopify app, rental booking calendar now live on the App Store

Rental commerce on Shopify has always been a workaround. Merchants built makeshift solutions with date metafields, custom scripts, and third-party booking widgets bolted onto product pages. None of it was native. None of it gave you real inventory control, deposit handling, or an end-to-end booking dashboard inside Shopify admin.

Miko Product Rentals is the native solution. It is on the App Store today, free to install, with no credit card required to get started.

Miko Product Rentals is live. Free plan includes 10 lifetime rentals, all core features included. Install from the Shopify App Store →

What ships today

Every feature detailed below is live in the current App Store release. There are no beta labels, no waitlists, no features locked behind a support ticket. Install the app and all of the following is available immediately.

Rental date picker on any product

Miko Product Rentals uses Shopify's Theme App Extension to add a native date picker block directly to your product pages, no Liquid code editing, no theme file changes. Customers pick a start date and an end date, see live availability for that product, and add the rental to cart in the same flow they already know. You can block individual dates per product or set store-wide blackout dates for public holidays or maintenance windows. The picker is styled to match your theme's design tokens so it looks built-in, not bolted on.

Multi-unit inventory per product and variant

Real rental businesses do not have one of everything. Each product and each variant in Miko Product Rentals has its own unit count and its own live availability calendar. A surf board rental shop can configure three shortboards and five longboards, each running their own independent inventory pool. When a customer books two shortboards for a week, those two units are deducted from the shortboard pool automatically, the longboard pool is untouched. Overbooking is blocked at the cart level. You set the unit counts once; the app handles the rest.

Deposit collection and release

Set a deposit amount per product. It is collected at checkout alongside the rental fee, one transaction, one checkout, no separate payment requests. When a rental is returned, you mark it returned in the dashboard and the deposit is automatically released back to the customer. If the item comes back damaged, mark it damaged and the deposit is forfeited. Every action is logged in a full audit trail visible in the booking dashboard, so you have a clear record for disputes. The deposit amount is shown clearly to the customer on the product page and in their order confirmation so there are no surprises.

Automated booking emails

Miko Product Rentals sends booking confirmation emails and return reminder emails automatically, no manual follow-up required. Confirmation goes out the moment a booking is created. Return reminders go out ahead of the due date so customers are not caught off guard. On the Starter plan and above, you can bring your own SMTP credentials so all automated emails are sent from your own domain with your own branding. Customers see your email address in their inbox, not a generic app sender.

Full booking lifecycle dashboard

Every rental booking your store has ever taken sits in one view inside Shopify admin. Filter by status, pending, active, overdue, or returned, to see exactly where each booking stands. Log late fees directly against overdue bookings. Export the full booking list to CSV for accounting or reporting. There is no separate portal to log into, no third-party dashboard to manage. The entire rental operation lives in the Shopify admin you already use every day.
