Miko Subscribe & Save Is Now Live on the Shopify App Store

Our tenth Shopify app is live. Miko Subscribe & Save sells subscriptions, subscription boxes and subscribe and save on any Shopify plan, with a free plan up to 50 active subscribers, and it is built around the half of subscriptions most tooling skips: keeping the customer.

Miko Subscribe and Save Shopify subscriptions app, now live on the Shopify App Store

Most subscription tooling is built for the sign-up: put a widget on the product page, capture the recurring order, count the win. But nearly all of the revenue in a subscription programme is decided in month four and month nine, by things nobody builds for. A card expires and the order silently does not happen. A customer wants to skip once, cannot work out how, and cancels instead. Somebody drifts for six weeks with every signal sitting unread in the data.

Miko Subscribe & Save inverts that brief. The retention machinery came first, and the widget was the easy part.

What ships today

Subscribe and save on any product

The widget is a Theme App Extension, added through the theme editor with no Liquid editing. The one-time price and the lower recurring price sit side by side on the product page, so the saving is visible at the exact moment the decision is made. Prepaid and pay-per-delivery terms both work, so you can take the whole commitment up front where the product suits it, or charge per shipment where it does not.

A customer portal with no password

Customers open a signed magic link, with no account to create and nothing to forget, and from there they skip a delivery, pause, swap a product, reschedule the next order or update a card. Every one of those is a support ticket you no longer answer, and a cancellation that no longer happens because leaving was the only obvious option on the page.

Miko Subscribe and Save magic link portal: skip, swap or pause a subscription without an account

Failed payments that recover themselves

Most involuntary churn is an expired card, not a decision to leave. Failed charges retry automatically on a schedule and the customer gets dunning reminders asking for an updated card, with SMS reminders on paid plans. The revenue this recovers is the cheapest retention win in the entire programme.

Churn you can see coming

Subscribers are scored for cancellation risk from your own store's history rather than a shared global model, because subscription behaviour in coffee looks nothing like supplements. Before a cancellation completes, the save flow offers the alternative that matches the reason given, usually a pause or a longer interval rather than an exit. The AI drafts save offers and clusters cancellation reasons, and a human approves before anything reaches a customer.

Run it from an AI assistant

The app ships an MCP server, so you can ask ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot to look up a subscriber, move a delivery date or explain what changed in churn this month, without opening the Shopify admin. Access is narrowly scoped rather than a general admin token.

How to get started

  1. Install free. Head to the Shopify App Store listing and install. No credit card required on the free plan.
  2. Create a selling plan. Choose the delivery interval and the subscriber discount, per product or across a collection.
  3. Add the widget block. Open the theme editor and add the Subscribe & Save block to your product template. No code editing required.
  4. Turn on payment recovery. Retries and dunning reminders are on by default; set the tone of the reminder emails to match your brand.
  5. Watch the portal take the load. Skips, pauses and swaps route through the magic-link portal instead of your inbox.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Shopify subscription app with a free plan?

Yes. Miko Subscribe & Save has a free plan for up to 50 active subscribers with the subscribe and save widget, the self-serve customer portal, automatic failed payment retries and prepaid or pay-per-delivery terms included. No credit card is required to start.

Does Miko Subscribe & Save charge transaction fees?

No. Pricing is a flat monthly fee by subscriber count, free up to 50 subscribers, then $7.99 a month to 300, $12.99 a month to 2,000, and $19.99 a month for unlimited subscribers. It never takes a percentage of your subscription revenue, which is the number to compare as a programme grows.

How do customers manage their subscriptions without an account?

Through a magic-link portal. The customer opens a signed, short-lived link, with no password and no account to create, and can skip a delivery, pause, swap a product, reschedule or cancel on their own. Removing the login step removes the point where most frustrated subscribers cancel instead.

Does it work on Shopify Basic or do I need Shopify Plus?

It works on every Shopify plan. Subscriptions are built on Shopify's native selling plans and subscription contracts, so Basic, Shopify and Advanced all work and no feature is gated behind Shopify Plus.
